Supreme Court stays arbitrary provisions of Waqf Amendment Act, protects property rights

The SC examined the 2025 Waqf Amendment Act and found certain clauses arbitrary. For example, it stayed provisions that allowed Waqf property to lose its status if simply “doubted” as government land and limited the inclusion of non-Muslims on Waqf Boards. However, it upheld the broader Act, recognizing Parliament’s role in law-making.



Tamil Nadu launches ‘Anbu Karangal’ scheme to support orphaned children

CM M.K. Stalin announced a welfare scheme under which 6,082 children who lost one or both parents will receive ₹2,000 monthly aid until age 18.
